Good equipment and it shows-stunning photos.
Thanks, Larry. I was getting frustrated so I did a major upgrade this year by adding the scope and the adapter. It's been fun. As for the common yellow throat, you're exactly right--there's nothing common about them at all!

The first time we ever saw a green heron, it took us a long time to even find it in the book. They are really different when flying compared to sitting.
What serendipity (and great photos)! It happens that my girlfriend & I were on a walk along the C&O Canal this afternoon (Su. 5/13) and had the rare opportunity to observe several Gree herons in action (as opposed to flying away after being flushed). They aren't really all that green, are they?

They used to be called green-backed herons, which was probably more accurate.
Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing them called that way back when I first started birding (mid-80s). Anyway the pix are spectacular!
