I looked out my window and there were seven black vultures roosting in a tree for about an hour, just behind my neighbor's house! I set up the scope and digiscoped the pictures above and below. Eventually three crows joined them. When I checked a couple of hours later, they were gone.
We frequently see black vultures roosting in the area, but this was the first time I had noticed them so close to our house!

Were they just sitting still the whole time? Do you think that they were eyeing a carcass of some type? I don't remember ever seeing them just sit around; they are usually circling, like drunken eagles. I saw vultures circling in Uganda. I found out that there was a butchering place down the hill.
