Gordon Flank Attack Trail, Spotsylvania, VA

Broadheaded Skink, Gordon Flank Attack Trail, Spotsylvania, VA. I saw this fellow scramble under this log else we'd never have seen him. We were able to approach close enough for me to get a decent pic. The broad head is not really visible from this angle, although one can see the ear-like pit caused by the broad head. See http://www.wildherps.com/species/E.laticeps.html for more on these lizards. Posted by Picasa
