Elegant terns, Silver Strand, San Diego, CA. We got quite a good look at these through the scope.
In addition to the birds shown, while on the Strand, we saw:
marbled godwits
great egrets
great blue herons
cinnamon teals
american wideons
willets
brown pelicans
red-breasted mergansers
osprey
long billed curlews
an unidentified hawk
