Kingfisher at Occoquan NWR

While looking for Rails at Occoquan, we heard and then saw this Kingfisher in the wetlands. Took this picture by holding up my little Pentax to the eyepiece of the scope.

Wetlands Birding

Fred and I went birding at a local wetlands refuge. We saw some nice birds, mostly the usual suspects, but I was pleased that this kingfisher posed long enough to get some decent digiscoped shots. I've never gotten any good kingfisher shots. It's good but not great; he was at the far limits of my scope and I was having difficulty telling if it was in focus. Otherwise, we saw red-winged blackbirds, song sparrows, several great blue heron, I think a wood thrush, some turkey vultures and a hawk.
